Study-Regional-Areas

What is the benefit of studying in a regional area?

A ‘regional area’ of Australia is defined as anywhere expect major metropolitan areas.  In practice, this means anyone required to live and work in regional Australia would need to avoid Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Perth.  Precise boundary points are determined via postcodes and is best to seek advice. After finishing your studies in Australia, you have a option to apply for the Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485).

 Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

This visa allows international students to live, work, or even study further in Australia, after completion of their studies. The Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) has 2 streams:

  • Post Study Work Stream: This category applies to international students who have completed a course (bachelor or master’s degree) of at least 2 years of duration in an Australian education provider.
  • Graduate Work Stream: This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations in Australia needs (i.e., Diploma and above in most trades usually)

For graduates who have studied in a regional campus of a registered university or institution, a SECOND Temporary Graduate visa may be available.  This would give an extra twelve months of post-study work rights. This gives extra time in order to meet eligibility requirements for a possible permanent pathway.
